How many youths left the WTS in the mid to late 90's?

Let me type this slowly for you.

I said: I progressed up the ladder and gained a position in the congo.

This is a PI$$ take - no such thing as progression, ladder or position.

Then I said: The closer I got to the centre of what was going on the more I realised it was wrong

The centre of the congo - not the org. After 30 years it's easier than you think to get stuck in and start playing with peoples lives - mikes would have been nice but public talks, accounts conducting a book study for 5 years and herding really does allow you to have some control on people especially when you slip in apostate ideas from time to time. While it's a fake authority, it is an authority as people follow you like you'd never believe.

The point I wanted you to understand is that while loads got disfellowshipped none came back apart from two of us and both of us didn't last. Worse still my mate went off the rails so bad he killed himself on booze and drugs. I'm sure he was pleased I conducted his apostate funeral. So yes you were right, the cobain generation as I called it (he ended it in my view) left a mark on the org.

It's going to happen again. I had 3 teenagers in my bookstudy on tranquilizers. This time round it will be worse and it wont be disfellowshipping that leaves a mark on the org it will be teens taking their lives. It's already becomming a craze in the UK and I suspect it will soon reach the org.

It's good to know you think I suck really bad. Gave me a smile coming from someone who knows little about S8. I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't get me head far enough up my arse.

I was 18 in 1988.

From 1988 to 1993 a total of 11 teens were disfellowshipped. 2 of us returned to regain our families.

I progressed up the ladder and gained a position in the congo. The closer I got to the centre of what was going on the more I realised it was wrong so I became an apostate. The other person got reinstated and never came to a meeting.

So that's 11 lost. Disfellowshipping works huh?

As I suspected a lame explanation.

For some reason this one really gets me. I think it's the sort of question you can ask a JW without sounding apostate and it should stump them - albeit not a striking revelation but it may plant a seed.

Can anyone shed some light on the following - In particular verse 13:

6 While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, 7 a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table. 8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. Why this waste? they asked. 9 This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor. 10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12 When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13 I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.

So, as a witness, when did you ever tell the story of this woman in your ministry? Did you ever include the principle of this story in your presentation? Did you ever see instruction in the Kingdom Ministry showing you how to incorporate this story or even the moral of this story into your presentation?

In my view, JW's claim to be the only people preaching the Gospel/Good News, yet it seems they fail to include anything related to the account above.

HOW do you invision the day of your death...

i'm a truck driver and thus in one of the highest casulity profession and also ride a motorcycle...will my death be by motor vehicle or natural causes...i wonder sometimes...the moment of death what will it be like...

On a more serious note though, I read Stephen Covey's book - The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People which had a section that included a meditation excercise called "begin with the end in mind".

The idea is that you visualize your funeral day and imagine what people willsay about you. As you create a list of what you think people will say it gives you a life map and identifies your true goals.

What kind of parent will your children say you were?

What kind of son/daughter will your parents say you were?

What kind of friend will your friends say you were?

What kind of financial person will your bank manager say you were?

Eventually you will end up with a list of ideals to work towards but more importantly you will see what your true desires and goals are.

Interesting?

Have You Ever Rejected Being Appointed an Elder/MS Before the Announcement?

when i was a jw several brothers (ms) told me in private that the elders had asked them several times if they did not want to become an elder.

they said they rejected because it was too much responsibility for them.

were you ever approached that the boe wanted to make you an elder but you refused?

Sex in the new order?

often times, at work, my mind will wander.

just the other day, out of the blue, i began to recall a trip my family took down south, to visit my mom's relatives.

i don't remember what instigated it, but my aunt, my dad, and my oldest brother got into a spirited debate about whether or not people would still have sex in the new order.. my dad, after rather awkwardly pointing out how much he enjoyed sex, said he didn't think it would be done away with completely, at least he hoped not.

News Flash! Letter from Governing Body announcing meeting schedule changes

the watchtower meeting (this congregation meets on sat) that i just listened to via phone conference was cut 10 minutes short to have a letter read to all the congregation.

here are the highlights:.

- the governing body realizes that the pressures of this system of things are getting heavier on his people.. - just like the governing body of the 1st century, we do not want to add additional burden to you either.

Having stepped down from my high titled position and refrained from going to the meetings for the last 6 months I have finally agreed to see an elder next week for a little chat to see how i am. No doubT the basis of the conversation will centre around "Not forsaking the gathering of ourselves..."

What fun I will have... armed with my own kingdom ministry material...
